RECYCLING STUDIO

At TONTOTON, we transform hard-to-recycle plastic into durable, high-quality boards that support circular solutions, creating jobs, and giving discarded plastic a second life with purpose. Used as supporting building materials, impact furniture, decoration, and awareness products.

What happens to the plastics we collect?

Sorting

Sorting
Sorting
Sorting

Arriving at our Material Recovery Facility (MRF), the plastic is firstly sorted into 3 categories:

Number 1

Recyclables (PET) are packed together and will be sent to local recyclers.

Number 2

Non-recyclable plastic is safely disposed in a fully controlled landfill – the best available solution in Cambodia – ensuring minimal environmental harm.

Number 3

Hard-to-recycle plastic is internally reprocessed into building materials, furniture, and impact products in our Material Recovery Facility (MRF).

Compacting

Compacting

Before being sent to recycling factories for PET and to landfill for non-recyclable, plastic is compacted into bales to reduce volume and optimize transport.

After being sorted by type and color in our MRF, the hard-to-recycle plastic is then crushed into flakes. The flakes could also be transformed into plastic pellets or used to create plastic boards.

These flakes or pellets are filled into a metal mold, then melted with heat & press machine to reform into a solid and lasting plastic board.
